Despite tough competition in the Home & Garden category, Better Homes & Gardens
has emerged the winner by a signi cant margin.
e Paci c Magazines title annihilated its competition in the June 2009 Audit
Bureau of Circulations results, posting the largest increase in actual copies sold of any
magazine in Australia. Better Homes & Gardens had a circulation of 370,000 with a
year-on-year increase of 10.4%, putting the magazine more than 270,000 copies ahead
of its nearest category rival Australian House & Garden.
Advertising volume for the publication was also impressive, showing a year-on-
year increase of 18.5% according to Nielsen AdEx, while its readership grew by 2.3% to
1,737,000, according to Roy Morgan.
Better Homes & Gardens is characterised by a strong and loyal following, with a
format that has become a blueprint for crossing between TV and magazines. e
judges noted the magazine's strong editorial content, and consistent performance in a
tough market and competitive category.
