Empire has a strong identity and
is strong from the newsstand to
the reader experience. For the
type of content it is providing,

ACP Magazines' monthly movie title Empire has had a successful year across the
board, strengthening its readership, circulation and ad volume. It beat an eclectic
group of nalists including Australian Geographic, Reader's Digest, RM Williams
Outback, Rolling Stone and TV Week to take out the title of best General Interest
magazine in 2009.
e magazine increased its circulation by 5.9% to 24,149, in the June 2009 Audit
Bureau of Circulations report, while Roy Morgan revealed that Empire's readership
jumped 6.6% in the same period from 151,000 to 161,000. Ad volume remained steady
with a 0.8% bump from 238,000 up to 240,000, reported Nielsen AdEx.
Judges commended Empire for its strong identity, forged from its engaging content,
which is split into three main sections ± new lms, movie news and home entertain-
ment. Judges were also impressed by Empire's front covers and its design layouts
throughout the magazine.
e magazine's website, Empire Online, has also delivered a strong multimedia
platform for the brand to extend its editorial reach.
Empire joined the ACP Magazines stable in September 2007, when the publishing
giant made a $94 million takeover of Emap Australia.
